Condition of Road Past Snaggletooth

Could anyone tell me what the road from Dove Creek Pumpstation down past Snaggletooth Rapid is like? I was down there 4 years ago and kinda remember it being a double track road at least to Snaggle. Is that correct? Also, what is the road like past there a few miles?

Thanks for your help,
Dan Rauer

it is a rocky two track - lots of brush on the sides but you dont need 4x4 to get down it unless it is muddy although clearance certainly helps - it was dry last weekend -
about a mile or two below snag there is a sign that say no motorized traffic from feb to june - so you can take out below the wave trains below snag but if you dont park a visible vehicle at the spot before the sign you will be going to slick rock -

Aztec,

Thanks for the info. That is kinda what I remembered, but I was not sure. We are actually having a truck on non-boaters run drive down and camp with us below Snaggle. We were looking into the camps a few miles below Snag and before the gate. Do you think that is possible? I'm not familiar with the area, so I really appreciate your help and advise.

Dan

I wasnt paying much attention to the camps below snag but I do remember atleast one really good one not too far down - maybe two that were on the left bank with road access -
depending on when you are going though you might have the truck folks go down and scout the site before you all get there for a couple reasons - one they have park a vehicle where you will see it so you dont go to far and two they can go down as far as possible and back up to find the best place to camp - there are quite a few people down there now and camps might fill up
