Cody boaters?

I couldn't find much beta on the Shoshone runs. A previous post mentioned a Class IV play run. Is this the Canyon below the dam? May be up there the week of May 15, will there be water? I'm sure it will be nice and warm too!

the shoshone below the dam will definitely be running when you're there. it's running right now. it's a class III-IV play run with super fun drops & weird sieve-y rock in places. one of the main drops has changed recently & now has a gnarly sieve. i'd suggest stopping by or calling core mt. sports in town & asking aaron for the beta on that one. (307-527-7354). i wouldn't count on there being anyone hanging around at the put-in/take-out up there, so maybe talk to aaron about a boating buddy.

bonus: there's a nice hot spring that comes in on river left.
double bonus: clarks fork day stretch is nearby

I'll be in Cody that week...

coming in from NC and would love to paddle - Mon/Tues/Wed and maybe Thurs. The local boaters usually get together in the afternoon and use this website-

You can reach me at 307-587-8624.

Just post a message on the board when you get this way or stop by the shop loacted across from wendys for details. Typically we run the shoshone after work each day and meet at the takeout around 5:30. Again stop by the shop and I can give you the details for each run.

There will aslo be some good runs starting to come up by then such as Clarks Fork runs, Sunlight Creek and Crandall creek.
Feel free to call us also, 877-527-7354

Aaron,

What is Sunlight Cr like? Where do you boat it? Do you need alot of water in the CF before it's good?

Also, do you know anything about Beartooth Cr?

Thanks,
Mike

Sunlight Creek is a fun run with one drop that is Class 4 and everything else is Class 3 boulder drops. At higher flows it's more like a class 4 run. Watch for Wood! When the clarks for gauge gets around 2000 it's usually running. The take out is at the Sunlight Creek Bridge and the put in is below the falls.

Crandall Creek is also a great run probably one of the better runs in the area Class 4-5

The North Fork runs can be fun at flows above 2,000 mostly class 3 and 2 with flat water.

Hope this helps!
