Clear Creek Canyon closed today - car under a rock

We were in the canyon early today to catch the surge at Black Rock. At the Narrows, on the cliff side, a car that was parked next to the cliff was crushed by a big slab of rock that came loose. The firemen told us nobody was inside but they were still looking for the owner when we were taking out. How they know for sure the owner isn't in the pancake car under that 20 ton rock, I don't know.

Anyways, the canyon was still closed when we finished up just a while ago. The water is brown and rising....pray for the rain to continue.

I drove up there after our run. The CDOT guys said that they hoped to have it cleaned out today. They were going to drill holes in the rock and blow it to pieces and remove it with bulldozers. Hopefully the canyon will be open tomorrow. Apparently it was the car of some climbers who were climbing in the canyon when it happened. What a near miss!!!
