I can't join because I'm unable to change any security settings. I'm using my laptop from work and it won't work because I won't accept the cookies. I'm not very smart about this stuff, is there any other way to join or at least read the posts

Ah yes....lovely corporate world. Unless you can convince your IT Admin to check the "Allow Cookies" checkbox under the Tools/Internet Options menu, you won't be able to join. However, if you have a personal email account (email address other than your work email) such as AOL, you can log onto AOL/Hotmail/etc via a browser (IE/FireFox/Mozilla/etc) and then access the yahoo group as these accounts are not traveling over your company's network and permissions/settings are set elsewhere.
