Cataract Q's

2 Questions:

1. Where does the current stop at present lake levels?

2. Does anybody know where to rent a small outboard motor in or near Moab?

Storm, I ran it last week for my first time. The current stops (or begins to crawl) 5-10 miles after the last rapids. It's pretty slow anywhere there isn't a rapid. From the top of the rapids (we camped at Brown Betty) it took 2 solid days of rowing to Dirty Devil.

Thanks Randaddy, this will be my first as well.

3rd Q: Are any of the camps at Dark Canyon accessible now?

I didn't get down there this year. What is the last rapid? Did the high water dig out any more?

your not allowed to camp at dark canyon but you can camp at a beach on river right just above dark. It works out nice to camp there because then you can stay the night and hike up dark canyon in the morning and spend a lot of time up there......trust me you will want to.

^ i definitely agree with that, dark canyon is one of the best side hikes on any rafting trip anywhere! miles and miles of bedrock pools with some fun waterfalls mixed in.....a layover day here would be top notch
