Canon City Boater Question

My friend Ryan is currently enroute to Canon City to spend 2 months on a Geology Class trip. He is a Southeast class IV/V boater/creeker. He was able to bring his creek boat on the trip and would like to meet up with any local paddlers that would like to go boating while he is there. His best bet is to just troll around the numerous commercial rafting outfits around Canon and those on the hill to the west of town. There are tons of kayakers around there who would paddle after work. In particular, check out Performance Tours or Jimmy Whiteside at Royal Gorge Rafting, both are on the the hill near the entrance to the Royal Gorge bridge. Shouldn't be any problem finding boaters. Also, ask around about the play wave at the dam just outside Canon City.
