Campgrounds near Durango...?

I am looking for somewhere basic and cheap to camp near Durango. I don't have an RV and don't really want a site with a hot tub. I just want somewhere to pitch my tent!
Does anyone know of some basic campgrounds in the area? I am happy to wild camp, but would prefer it be legal. Are there any campgrounds near rivers where I am likely to find paddlers?

Any insider info would be appreciated

Near Durango:
Junction Creek (Public and Primitive Camping)
Missionary Ridge (Primitive Camping, if road is open?)

Up the Valley:
Hermosa Creek (Public and Primitive Camping)
Haviland Lake (Public Camping)
Lime Creek Road (Primitive Camping)

There's various KOA's and pay sites closer to town.

if you want a place that's practically in town, try United Campground . It's $25 per night but they have sweet tent sites (nice grass), hot showers and I've always found them to be nice folks to deal with.

There is free camping above lemon reservoir, it is about 30 minutes out of town. Head up Florida, go past Lemon and stay straight on the dirt road just after you see a left heading into Transfer station. It is mild 4x4, i did it once in a eurovan. They are primitive, but are close to the river.

If you are hitting Vallecito there is sweet pay camping at the take out/beginning of the hike to the put-in.

there is also a pay campground up at lemon at the take out to Miller ck. with some amenities.

If you get skunked, PM me, my house is on the Florida and I've got a couple acres.
