California class III-IV kayaking and any websites?

I'm wondering if anyone is familiar with kayaking in California and if there are any websites or other ways to hook up with boaters that way. Any Cali veterans want to tell me who, when (how long the season goes) and where? Or just drive out there with me sometime? I'm languishing in Flagstaff just a little too damn far from the Arkansas right now....
