Buzzard Creek Good to Go

This winter a group of us from GJ went up to Buzzard creek several times to cut out the mandatory portages...there were three... & two were ugly situations if you did not know where they were. Two are now perfectly clean & the first one is now an easy boof over a limb free channel over a river wide log...horizon line is easy to see & scope out to make sure if anything has piled up in the hole. We painted a gauge under the bridge at the take out. If it is 1.25 or above on it it is in fairly good shape lower than this it can still be boated but is bony w/contant manuevering around rocks w/ tons of FU rocks to surprise you & lots of pin potential.

There is now one new river wide strainer right within the first 1/4 mile of the put in..This is obvious if you are looking down at the river just before you get to that put in bridge. Portage on the right & imediately start looking for the next river wide tree that is blocking the right channel. You can easily avoid this portage by taking the small left channel...after that it is preeeety much good to go..

Just beware that this is a very active stream in regards to new down fall so always stay heads up!

Enjoy it while its in. not sure what it is doing with this little cooler weather.

Thanxs to all who put their efforts in to clean up the run & Thanxs to the landowner for allowing it.

Thanks! That's a fun little creek when the water's up. Do you know what your new gauge, at least the 1.25 mark correlates to on the Plateau @ Cameo gauge? I've done Buzzard 2X. Once at 600 on the Plateau gauge and I thought it was kind of shitty. Another time at 1,100, which was fantastic, just a little scary because of wood & few eddies.

You guys must have had a really big saw to get that one out that came up fast after a left bend - right bend. Nice job in getting cooperation from the land owners, too.
