Buena Vista Play Park

The wife and I will be in BV for the weekend to ride and run with the dogs. I will not have time to do any of the classics (numbers/browns) but is it worth bring a boat for ~250 cfs in the play park?

Sidenote: Any moutain bike trails in the area that should not be missed?

Depends on how bad you want to get in the water. You might be able to get a decent front surf at the top and bottom features, with some slightly better play at the Staircase hole.

Not sure if the CT is open across Princeton, but if so that's probably the best ride in BV. There is also the Midland and Broken Boyfriend near the river, and a few others up in Fourmile. The riding at Salida is better than BV.....especially early season.

GARNA’s mission is to foster stewardship of the resources of the greater Arkansas River region through education, volunteerism and experiences.

Staircase is OK for some flat spins in the kayak, and Lodo would prob. be OK for a couple of rides too.

A Stand Up Board is also pretty fun at those flows. The downtown wave is surfable on long boards as well as short boards. Fun to nose ride and play around on that wave. You can also attain from the downtown wave all the way up to the Corner Pocket Wave. It is great exercise...aka. The Earl Workout.
A short board is pretty fun down there too. lazy weekend afternoon beach scene...
I second the mtn bike option. Bring a bike, and finish off the day with a ride, and then a drink at Deerhammer Distillery or Eddyline.
