Aside from the 1000's of other people running down the river on giant condoms trying to run you over...

Yeah, not my version of "getting away from things"

It is a fun run to go play on, good mix of downtime with a few juicy sections.
It WOULD be one of the best runs around if it wasn't for the stacks of gapers.
Go after 2 I think? to avoid the rubber & it's a fun run.

I'll second that. Go early in the morning or late afternoon and you'll miss most of the crowds. I believe the Ark still holds the title as the highest traffic river in the nation. This weekend is going to be insane.

The best time to do it (in my opinion) is after 5, take your time and end up at Hecla right after dark.
If you are sly enough to boat with a 12 pack of pbr and a small dry box in your boat, then a sunset safety meeting at jump rock and a run of raft ripper in the dark is the shizzle...

I ran it my first time this season at 2200 and only swam once from being lazy in Toilet Bowl. I'm a fairly new paddler and it was a blast. However, I was with the right people who showed me the right lines and I portaged Zoom.

Continuous class 2 from Fisherman's Bridge to Canyon Doors really warms you up. If you have a roll, you have zero to worry about. If you don't, have people with you who will chase you and your gear.
