I agree that if you aren't familiar with a stretch you may want to follow and listen to some advice. We had a boat tag along behind us on the Royal Gorge Sunday around 3400 CFS. They were going down in a 12 footer wearing cotton shorts and T-shirts or tank tops! They at least had sense enough for helmets and PFDs. They were also bringing 2 dogs and one was about a 12 pound Boston Terrier!!! I told them we had just run it twice the day before and they probably at least needed splash gear and begged them not to bring the dogs, especially the little one. They said they would be fine.
Well, I swear these people were rowing with angels!! They lost 2 paddles - one before Sunshine! They had to borrow spares from us because they didn't bring any. They ran everything sideways and were all over the place. And they all stayed in the boat. Including the dogs. The dogs looked miserable and the people looked frozen, but everyone was safe.
Hopefully these people learned something and will think twice next time. I do not think they realized how lucky they were.
