Browns Canyon gear-what to wear??

Coming out there to raft with an outfitter. Are hyrdosilk shirts enough or should I wear a drytop. Not sure how cold the water is out that way. Thanks!

If they offer you a wetsuit and booties wear them, if I were on a paddle boat and wanted to be in the front where the action is, I'd ask for them. If its clouding up, a splash top will also be nice to have.

Some of the water on Brown's will have been frozen a couple of days before and all of it comes from high altitude reservoirs where its still pretty chilly. The river is great for cooling your beers down to a good temperature for drinking. If you're overdressed for the run, its easy enough to cool down by splashing yourself. If you're cold, you'll be cold until the takeout unless they stop and build a fire because people are hypothermic.

The upper Colorado is 54 degrees today, when in Colorado prepare for the worst weather. You will probably have great water.

I have seen a number of blue lipped commercial raft clients, on a hot day, shivering their a-hole off at Hecla.

I would skip the wet suit and just get a splash jacket, unless you get cold really easily. The weather has been fantastic here and the water usually warms up a bit by the commercial put in times.

I may just be used to the water, but I have been wearing cotton shorts, t-shirt, and a rain jacket everyday and it feels great when the sun is shining.
Granted if it is cloudy and cold on the day of your trip, by all means get decked out, but if it is sunny go simple and enjoy the water and sun.

You are one swim away from freezing your ass off if you wear cotton. Dont become a shivering tourist.
