Broke my Carlson pump. How to fix?

I had an older 4" Carlson pump (with the green hose) that I broke the other day. A heavy object fell on it causing the barrel itself and the bottom cap to snap in two near the foot-hold. Everything else is still intact. Since these things are $200 new, I'm wondering if anyone's ever had any luck fixing these things. They seem to be made out of simple plumbing PVC pipe and fittings. However, I bought a piece of 4" PVC pipe and a cap and was going to fix it but found that the inner diameter is different. So, does anyone know what kind of pipe it is? Thanks

All you got to do is do it.

You have the wrong type of PVC pipe. PVC comes in two common wall thickness. The first and most common is Schedule 40 that is used in drain, waste, and vent pipes in residential plumbing. If you look on the pipe that you have it probably has SCH 40 and the letters DWV printed on the side of it. The other type of PVC is Schedule 20. It has thinner walls and is commonly used in landscaping for drainage. I am pretty sure that is the material that is used in Carlson pumps. It is available at most building centers and landscaping stores. You will need the SCH 20 fittings to go with the pipe since the SCH 40 fittings will not fit.

I built my own pump out of SCH 40 pipe anf fittings and it is much heavier than any of the commercially available pumps. Hopefully it is a lot more durable too.

Here's how to fix your problem - Buy a DRE pump and call it good.
