Boulder Creek gauge beta

I have been noticing some irregularities in the gauges on BC. The Orodell gauge that we usually look at had been reading 300+ higher than the gauge near the library. While there are some diversions in between, there is also some added water from 4 mile. It wasn't adding up (or subtracting out) in my mind.

Yesterday I saw the tech doing a field measurement from the bridge below the library. He was quite friendly and entertained my questions for several minutes. His field measurement read about 850. If you look at the graph, it is entered as an coordinate above the real time readout.

Not sure how quickly his new "shift" will be incorporated into future readings.

He also mentioned that the Orodell gauge probably reads high. He'll be field measuring that gauge this afternoon and adjusting it too.

Hopefully both of these gauges will be more accurate in the near future.

Not that it really matters; it is nice and big, go get some.

The Orodell gauge just got field checked too. Looks like it was reading high by about 140 cfs. I assume they have now both been re-calibrated, as they now read almost the same.

Detail Graph

Still lots of water out there. the gauge at Ned hit its highest yet last night.

Good to paddle with you on Friday. Hope you guys had fun on BC this wekend, we ran alto-alto on Saturday and Sunday. We put-in below the bridge and class IV above Jumbo mountain, it adds some bogie water to the trip.
