Boating near Estes Park

Working for RMNP again this summer..wasn't able to boat last summer because of shoulder surgery but wanting to get back into it this summer..used to be a solid class IV boater but haven't boated in over a year. I will also have my long time boater gf with me who also hasn't boated much within the past year. Would love to hookup and start on some II-III and then start firing it up. any help appreciated!

There is the hole behind Dairy queen if there is ever enough water in Estes but its rare, but the closest boating I have found is on the St Vrain sections and Big T. For getting warmed up again Lyons is the best bet with the town play holes and shelly's cottage section.

The Poudre wont be too bad of a day trip either and could easily fulfill all your needs.

The word on the street is that the Big T (below Drake) will have a good year in terms of releases- the basin is in good shape.
