Boating App? A Highly Informal Survey
Based on my own recent experiences piecing together information from EddyFlower, AW, RiverBrain, RiverMap, etc. along with people on this forum and in person voicing frustration over lack of consistent, reliable boating related information, I've decided to team up with my app developer (and burgeoning boater) buddy to put together an iOS app for river info, beginning in Colorado. While flows will be linked to USGS gauges, I also want to make a decent amount of information available without a cell/wifi signal, such as directions, descriptions, maps, etc. I'm not sure how many climbers are on here, but it would be a bit like Mountain Project's app, where you could download must-have info to your phone before losing service, so you could access it while criss-crossing some desert somewhere.
That being said, we've just started to put the information together, and I would love input now, before anything is too set in stone. What would you like to see in such an app? Please keep in mind that it is not attempting to replace web pages like AW and Eddyflower - that much information would just create clutter. The idea is to provide mobile access to the absolute most important river beta you need. What is most important to you?
I suppose it would be asking a lot for this to not digress into a shitshow, but it is the internet, so I know how it goes. Thanks in advance for any valuable feedback you can provide.
