Boat racks

I finally got a truck. No more Subaru "glorified dyke mobile" Outback. Now, to get a pimp setup, I need a good rack. Looking to carry lotsa yaks, and also be able to throw on raft frames if needed. Cutch, I remember seeing a nice aluminum job on your truck. Anyone have any pointers/hints/things to remember when making one?
Sorta a vague question, I'd appreciate people's feedback.

Kyle's aluminum rack is one of the nicest I have seen. That being said, you only need the weight saving benefits of aluminum if you have an underpowered truck. They are also nice if you havea a half ton and your rack will be tall. A tall and heavy rack will sway more on corners.


Hobie was making some nice racks. Are you still in that business Hobie?

Most of the racks you see around the metro area are made by Remuda, out of Denver. That is his main thing. Any decent welser can make one, but they will be a lot more expensive. Stay away fromthe cheap bolt together ones. They are not really all that inexpesive.
