Black Canyon Flows

I just got off the phone with the Black Canyon Rangers and according to them, the Black will begin dropping Thursday 21st until it reaches 700 cfs sometime Sunday or Monday. Today the flows rose from 1280 to approx 1500, and the fellow I spoke with didn't know they brought it up, but he was pretty certain about the drop. This is the info that the damn provided to the park rangers.

he said flows will drop in increments of 200-300 cfs daily, we can probably expect something like to go down:

Thurs 1500
Fri 1200
Sat 900
Sun 700

Again, just a prediction but I know there are at least 2 groups heading in this weekend. Have fun, be safe, pay attention.

Just talked to bureau of reclamation. The flow came up 100cfs today because they shut off the gunnison tunnel due to flooding on the uncompahgre. He believes the flow will stay close to what is now until sunday night, when they have a plan to drop it 300 cfs. So we "should" have 900 to 1000cfs in the black through sunday. Of course, this could change at any time, but it's hopeful.

Can't. Writing about kayaking instead... Irony. Have fun. I think one day is probably the best way to do it to get the most action relative to the least work. Have fun. Let me know how it goes.

I am going to Pueblo tomorrow. Never been. Should be fun.

Looks like the flow is almost at 700. I hope Milo's crew had a good run on Sat... the Salida Crew decided not to run last fri/sat because of bad weather but we're looking to reschedule this week. It would be nice to see some higher flows sooner than later....
