Black Boxes TR

If you're looking to run the San Rafael Black Boxes, they're running right now. We ran it Sun./Mon. and it was great. No carnage, no scraping at about 600 cfs. Super committing, awesome adventure boating. No substantial wood issues. We put it at the Bridge and floated the flat water at the beginning instead of hiking in. The "flat water" is moving fast and is an easy paddle that took only about 2 hours, and it's crazy beautiful there. You could cut about 5 miles off the top by driving across the bridge and down Mexican Mtn. Road until it moves away from the river. Based on the last TR and what I've seen of that place, hiking down into the canyon would be similar to hiking down into the Taos Box, but without a trail....brutal. Be careful out there and pack for an adventure, because you're sure to get one.

And holy crap the colorado is gaining around 4K a day!

Awesome! Glad to see someone else is getting after that run since it only goes once every 5 years (or more). How was the waterfall at that level? Did you run it?

Six of us from Utah did it Monday and waterfall was still looking unrunnable down the center chute at 600 cfs. There was a large rock that blocked entrance to it. We did the seal launch. Trip of a lifetime!

Lost an nrs toaster mitt in there near submarine drop if anyone sees it. Pretty sure it's gone but just saying...
