Check-in.....10-11AM Race.....High Noon
$30 - Insurance, Camping(might get crowded), Barbecue, Beverages
1st - Top of the pinch to first bridge. Bomber safety set-up all day on pinch and gambler. Safety boaters in the water in a couple spots as well. Combined times on two runs takes the cake. Cash Purse.
2nd - Below the pinch to the first bridge. One single run. Best time wins.
We will be barbqin' and making merry at the Halfmoon Campground that evening. Field is limited to 50 competitors.
This is a fragile, new event, with very limited access for spectating and a rather small parking area, so please try to carpool if possible and keep non-competitors to a minimum. Also, please bring everything you need for the race and after party to help minimize traffic, especially intoxicated traffic. Plan on campin', it'll be worth it...
We have reached an agreement with the landowner and forest service(for those who did not know, most of the safety/portage/scouts on the biggest drops are on private land) to allow access for this event. In return, he has asked that the paddling community slow way down in this area whenever they are heading in to Big T, close the gates, and to simply show the landowner the respect he deserves for allowing our trespassing all these years as we access, without question, the best steep creek in Montana. The landowner is currently "fed up" with the attitudes and behavior of kayakers accessing Big T, but is still willing to work with us and keep things cool. (hell, he granted access for one of the steepest creek races ever) Please spread the word to help keep things chill on this creek and obey all posted speed limits. Just a couple more bad experiences for the landowner could quickly lead to some dire consequences for this run.
Lookin' forward to having a great weekend out there.
