Big Thompson starts dropping
Early this morning (November 8 at 2:30 a.m, we dropped releases from Olympus Dam to the Big Thompson River by 100 cfs. Today, there is about 305 cfs running through the Big Thompson Canyon. The 300 cfs will remain all day, today.
But, late tonight/early tomorrow morning (November 9) at about the same time (1-2 a.m.), we will drop releases from Olympus Dam to the Big Thompson another 100 cfs. By sunrise Friday morning, there should be about 200 cfs in the Big Thompson River.
We might also scale releases back some more late Friday night/early Saturday morning. And, it is probably safe to expect the river to drop a little more next week, too. I'll post here so you all know the details.
The reason for the change is that work has completed on one of the power plants and we are starting to move water through the power generation arm of the Colorado-Big Thompson Project, again.
