Big T going up, Lower Blue down
Just sent this out to my e-mail list:
With the warm weather, you can expect to see flows continue to rise in the Big Thompson River below Estes Park.
Late last night, we bumped up releases to about 365 cfs. Most likely, and especially with the predicted warm weather, we will see inflows to Lake Estes increase. That means, we will increase our releases from Olympus Dam to the lower Big Thompson River.
If predictions hold through the weekend, flows in the Big T could get as high as 700 cfs. So, please be aware that early morning flows could be significantly higher than the previous evening. If you are in and around the river very late at night, please be aware that we make our adjustments to the gate in the dam between midnight and 2 in the morning.
Please let me know if you have any related questions or concerns. I will provide another update the top of next week.
Also of note--we started scaling back releases at Green Mountain. We've got about 800 cfs going to the Lower Blue. I anticipate it will stay that way through the weekend.
Have a great weekend!
