Big Sur..Come Get It!

Big Sur was in Monday afternoon/evening. Front wave long boat only..second wave great front surfing even in a small boat..3rd wave nice foam pile..spins & more if you have the talent. Lots of logs & debris but seemed to mainly stay center & river left so out of the way for the most part...still be heads up though. Enjoy while it last...CO river they say is suppose to peak next 24 hours.

yesterday-monday-up until 4 pm maybe 5 of us.
Today up until 4pm maybe 7 in the water with a few on shore. Looked like more showing up with the post work crowd. Room for 4-5 surfers so 15 to 20 people would give you just enough eddy rest before gettin some again.

also, today they were letting water out of the dam, so the flow was better- First wave had a little foam, no glass anymore, second wave was really nice . Bouncy foam left(surfers) and smoother to the right.

Hey MtnGuy, you in the yellow boat? I was in the red crazy88 with the red lifejacket. I thought you were moving in under the bridge till it goes away. Strong show today! I got that old Aquafina bottle back, by the way.

What kinds of boats are best on these features? Do you need something old and fast?

Just got home from Big Sur

I was at big sur for about 4 hours this evening. It is definitely a very fun wave. The first wave was pretty much glass but could easily hold 3 - 4 surfers. Something a little older and faster like a big EZ, Necky Jive, or RPM could pretty much camp on that wave. The second wave was bouncy with a nice foam pile. It holds a new playboat no problem and you can side surf and back surf without to much difficulty.

The play at the Glenwood wave is probably better but if you want to get on the smoothest biggest wave and just surf for hours this would be the place to go. Plus you can always go to glenwood but big sur doesn't happen to often.

Ditto to the last post..enough water but it depends on the gates at the dam....Certainly not like it was on Tues....The water is on its way down so not sure what it will be like Fri. probably gone sat. We shall see..heading out later today.
