Big South Level

Thinking about heading to the Big South this week.
At 196cfs coming out of Long Draw, what does this turn the foot gauge into?
Anyone know the conversion?
Is it low, med or high now?

Sean, the 196 CFS reading is for Weird Creek only. 196 is a decent flow for this small trib, but once you reach the Poudre, you gain the majority of the flow for the run itself. i'd guess the BS is running low right now, maybe low/medium if we're lucky.

i ran it last year at 1.65' on the take-out stick, and this corresponded to about 1020 CFS at the "Poudre at Canyon Mouth" USGS gauge, but that's a long ways downstream. either way, i'm sure it's running at a fun doable level.

hope this helps.

you really need to get a visual on the stick itself. ANYONE? BUELLER? BUELLER?

Hey Bryan, I'll be headin up this weekend hopefully. I'm nursing a sore wrist from a high speed road bike collision with a low rider BMX. My bike took the brunt of collision, but my wrist is aching. I'll let you know after I'm up there, but I bet this might be one of the last weekends for it.

later

Hey Sean, the Big South was 1.9ft today and the gate was open!! This is a fun level, it's on the low end of medium. See the following post for info on some of the new wood in there:

Enjoy while there's water!
