Big Horn's Clear Creek

While in Buffalo WY, for some work related activities, I was fortunate to run into Derrick the local dentist/ only Boater around. After a quick town run on Clear creek, He took me up the canyon to take a look at the middle section of Clear Creek. We scouted a bit and then hopped in for a couple miles. Super continuous Class 4 creeking, nothing overly scary that I found just non-stop action. Derrick had never run the stretch and it was late in the evening so we only ran a mile or so, but I would love to go back with some more boaters and some more time. It was a little over a foot on the buffalo gauge, and could probably use a little more water.

If anyone is driving north, this run is only 10 minutes off of I-25. I am not the super agro class V guy, so the upper section does not really appeal to me, but I really liked what I saw in the middle section. The eddies are small and full of bushes, and there is a big possibility for wood.

Thats awesome glad to hear you got on clear creek. The middle does have a high potential for wood and gets better the higher the water level. I would say a foot is perfect for the upper and low for the middle. Its been a hard creek to predict which sucks but I usually call the mexican restaurant right across from the gauge to get the level.
