Big Cimarron Update

Yo Paddlers, The Big Cim should be great right now since the flows have dropped down to the 500 or less range. We tried it Saturday at 700 CFS and in my opinion it was too high to be safe based on the amount of blind eddyless corners, wood and fences. We hiked out. I guess some other boaters got in there after us and had an epic.

The high level was good to go and in our groups opinion was the preferred level for the run, less water would have exposed lots of rocks and made for a much mankier run. The pictures in the CRC book show the run being done at ridiculusly low levels. This run would absolutely suck at these levels. At high water there were plenty of eddies to catch and the read and run was fast paced but good. The epic was not due to high flows but just a total fluke, my skirt got snaged on a branch in class 4, my skirt popped off, boat filled up and I was forced to abandon ship. Steve if you read this chime in here, I know you guys went in the next day and had a good time, what do you think, was this way to high?

The west fork of the san juan on the other hand was too damn high, this epic was not a fluke but was caused by ass kicking high water.
