Big bend to Salida at current flows?

Looking for a family float w the fam this weekend on the Ark w 12ft raft. Thinking about Big Bend to Salida. Looking for beta on the run at current low flows. Thanks

It will be a little scrappy in a couple of spots and narrow channels in some places, but should be read and run mellow enjoyment. Fishing is good along the way if anyone has the opportunity. Be alert getting around the overhanging tree branch on river right coming into Salida near the ball fields. The line is around the right and under it, but the channel is just a bit more than boat width wide between the bank and branch.

Also note that there is a dam on that run. It is well signed; boat chute (or portage) on the left.
I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be.

I floated most of it this past Sunday- 434 cfs- A couple of things to add...

The diversion dam above Salida is runable, but the point where it re-enters the main flow is going to catch you. I had to get out and push my 13' cat over that and one or two other spots. There's a right or left choice at the bottom right now- and they're both boned out. Nothing too major- but just a heads up.

The beta about the tree near the ball park is spot-on.... run between the branches on the right- plenty of room for even a 14' boat...maybe bigger.

The area just below the launch at Big Bend is super shallow- channeled with exposed rocks....even at higher levels. You may reconsider this as your put-in and opt for the 166 bridge to Salida East or even Rincon if you get an early start. I was fishing- and stopped 3 or 4 times to work some runs... and my float from 166 to Salida East was 5 hours. I had planned on Rincon, but I just ate up too much of the day on the upper 1/2. The river is very floatable even at this level, but you should consider the slow pace and adjust your length of float accordingly. The play park in Salida held the only waves of the whole float- and the kids should enjoy those hits- with an audience. Have fun! Fishing is great right now, btw!
