If you are solid on stevens right now there should be no problem with rustic. In my opinion nothing in rustic compares to upper mish or pineview right now.

In lower rustic the line is basically down the middle. There are 3 rapids. Grandpa's gorge - you come under a bridge and the river makes a left turn - keep the boat in the middle of the river and you should be fine.

When you see a bridge that looks like it may be too low you are at Death by dismemberment. Death by dismemberment is easier now than at low water - but the same line applies - start left and drive right as you drop under the bridge.

Soon after DBD you will go under another bridge - the river will split around an island and then turn right. THis is Hole 99. Basically the line is the same as Grandpas Gorge - stay in the middle and thread the holes. Be aware there is a very sticky but easily avoidable hole on the right side of the river in this rapid.

Apart from those rapids everything else is straightforward II/III.

If you want to scout every rapid of note is under or directly downstream of a bridge - so pull over at the bridges and you'll see them all. Grandpa's Groge is a little longer so walk a ways below the bridge to see it all.

The rule for kids is the same rule i'd have for any person. If they are fit enough to get themselves out of the river at this flow they are good to go. Otherwise wait till the water comes down.

I heard that bridge was a bureaucratic screw up (rushed through, missed proper design review).
