I emailed Grant Amaral, and he replied that he has shut down his santa maria trips for 2010 - 11, because Valles is "out of control."

If Grant says it, it's no bull. He wouldn't turn away business.

Outlaw, if Grant said it is out of control, it must be bad down there

I have been on Grant's trips and the man does not back off anything

Valles and Mexico in general..

Well...I don't really know where to start...?? I'm here in Valles right now and its the same as it was last year. There is a military presence on the roads out side of town. As far as I'm concerned with those guys around the bad ones tend to stay away. I've been her a month and haven't heard a gunshot or seen any violence. We live in downtown Valles, so if its gonna happen it will be close by.

I have heard that San Luis is a bit more violent than last year...but i haven't been there yet. I have travelled to Torreon, Monterey, CD Victoria and crossed in Matamoros without incident. Tampico is still a good option to fly into...I've had clients fly in weekly and it was fine for them.

I cross in Matamoros early in the morning..around 7 am. and drive till i need to fill up or reach valles. I try not to drive late at night...the stories I've been hearing are greatly exaggerated...I don't know why Grant cancelled his Santa Maria trips and not Oaxaca??? According to the media, It's just a dangerous down there...guess you'll have to ask him that.

hope this helps...
