Best time of year to paddle Equador?

So my sister lives in Quito. She is pregnant and the baby is due in early April. I want to plan a trip to visit my niece or nephew and, of course, to get some paddling in.

So will there be any decent boating left that late in the year, or should I plan a trip for mid-winter and save seeing the baby until next year? Yes, I do have my priorities straight and will postpone seeing the baby for the sake of kayaking.

Or can I have it both ways?

Hey Pbell,

You definitely have your priorities straight!
You can paddle in Ecuador year round although the months of Nov. to March are the most stable. If you want to paddle in the Quijos and Tena valleys (the most popular places to paddle) you should be fine. You might run into too much water, but then you can just hit up the big water play runs, and just hope for some days of no rain so you can get the creeks.

I hope this helps,

Darcy

Thanks, Darcy,

I appreciate the help. Will you all still be operating down there? If not, any advice on finding a local guide and a place to rent boats?

Our season is from November through March, so we will NOT be around in April.

But, our boats will still be here if you wanted to rent one from us.
Send me an email at info@smallworldadventures.com
and I will give you some local contact information for people in Tena who can help you out.
