Best run on the way to Lochsa

We are planning to head to the Lochsa over memorial day weekend for some splashy fun. What's the best run on the way there from the front range? Ideally IV/V- but we are open to class III with good play or class V if scoutable/portagable. Thanks.

Alpine Canyon, Bitch Creek, Henry's Fork, Big Timber, Grey's, Gros Ventre, Hell's Canyon + Bible stretch on Boulder River all come to mind.

I second Alpine Canyon, Gros Ventre, and Grey's! All fun III+ to V. None too hard... but very fun.

Payette drainage. Come up through Boise. Then go to Grangeville and down to the SF Clearwater. Then hit the lochsa. There is also the snake around Twin Falls.

There is also the northern route: I-90.

Stillwater, Boulder, Gallatin, Madison, Clarks Fork

I plan on going up the northern route and back home thru the Payettes.

If you're up for awhile don't miss the SF Clearwater, pretty close to the Lochsa. There maybe opportunities for White Sand creek, and Crooked Fork (Lochsa headwater tribs) with the melt we have had the roads might be close to opening up.
