Best Boating Shoes

Sick of smelly shoes and spending money on expensive shoes that end up falling apart, becoming more shoe goo than shoe? I learned a good tip from the guys in Ecuador. Get yourself a pair of Chuck Taylor All Stars and wear a poly pro sock. I took my pair for a spin on Saturday at Pueblo.
Quite choice. They stick to the rocks well and my feet did not get cold nor did the water stay in the shoe because they have drains on the sides. They dry fast and do not stink.

Later,
dpj

Must be nice to fit in a play boat with shoes. What's at Pueblo @ 300cfs?

The play park is just fine at 300 CFS. Holes four and seven are the only ones that are not very friendly. It is always warmer down there which makes for good late season play.

The Chucks fit just fine in my Pyranha S6F. I had to re-adjust my foot shims / pads though.

It needs one..that thing is burly at high water. But at 300cfs isn't the whole river really shallow? Can you even throw ends in 3 or 6? I just remember in July when it started to get below 700 I though it was starting to kind of suck.

Yes, 7 was nasty sticky at higher water. I would say suck is a relative term. Nothing else running so it can be better than nothing.
I do wish though they would channel more of the water to middle of each drop so that they would be deeper at lower water.

gh, I believe it was you who scolded me about low water when I made an inquiry about less than 300 on Parkdale last year.

I just started playboating this year and was able to throw the few moves I know at low water and got my first corkscrew on hole six. The were a few people throwing down on hole one, all kinds of moves.

The only problem is the scraping of your paddle in the wave's face. You may want to bring an old paddle.

tricks are for keds

Let me add that davidj looked stylish in those shoes - made me want to start a game of hoops, or skate the half-pipe...

I've been wearin' chucks since like 68',can barely fit in a super ez barefoot, size 13 chucks aint'zactly low profile.
You should get some of those tri-color ones that look like bowling shoes or platform chucks, then you'd really be stylin'!

Plaid with matching spray skirt/kilt would also be good.
