Lefthand is best guaged visually or by So. ST. Vrain ,if it's runnng good then Lefty probably is too.I cleaned out a big woodpile just above the cruxand at least one other group did some cleaning also.I think run off is more or less done ,but there is some little dam higher in the watershed that sometimes releases at wierd times and heavy rain will bring it up temporarily, that was the case Saturday when that hail storm hammered the area around Boulder.I was up there just after the storm,it was all foggy and hundreds of little minilandslides had dirt and fallen rocks all over the road ,leaves beaten off the tress piles of hail looked like it had snowed, the creek was runnable but so chocolatey that i opted not to run it ,wood likely got moved around and would be very difficult to spot in the dark water, the run is not that hard but eddies are scarce.Anyhoo if we get a rainy period I'd like to get on it,only ran like 3/4 of amile of it so far this year,it doesn't take long with 200 fpm and few eddies and no play,it's best combined with Boulder Creek and/or Lyons.

Escalante isn't a bad choice, and you can walk all the hard stuff, but timing is bad. Aim for the first or second week of May. Lower Big T is good too, you can run it in a playboat or a creeker depending on how the flows are (below the V)
