Beginner Looking For Advice

Hello! I am very new to kayaking but I'm already in love. I was wondering if anyone could give suggest some nice river floats in CO? I'd love to do a long mellow day trip or overnight trip and maybe camp overnight somewhere but I'm not sure where to go. I have very little experience on any rapids but want to learn to navigate through the easy stuff. I've only ever done kayaking trips in Wyoming and South Carolina and would really appreciate some Colorado suggestions! Thanks!

Ruby/Horsethief on the Colorado. Swallow Canyon on the Ark. Escalante to Whitewater on the Gunnison. Those are all good places to start. All are I-II grade overnight floats.

GARNA’s mission is to foster stewardship of the resources of the greater Arkansas River region through education, volunteerism and experiences.

The Upper Colorado would be a great place to start. You can paddle for days on class II water, with occasional class III drops. You may want to pick up a copy of the guidebook- Whitewater of the Southern Rockies. It is a great resource for paddlers of all abilities.

Have fun out there!

Paddle the animus in Durango. It is a great day run through the city. it is nice because it has a nice hole at the bottom that is super fun to play in for beginners. I stated paddling some easy class II-III in NM and found this river a breeze. I would only recommend that you know how to carve an eddy.
p.s. (I did this river before I got my roll)
