Bear Creek is a fun, bouncy, low volume class IV+ creek close to town that rarely runs. Doubtful it will run this year.

I've a suggestion to keep you all occupied...learn to swim!

Bear creek is manktastic! What Roy said. Probably won't run this year unless we get a couple days of heavy rain. You seem to need well above average snowpack in its watershed, combined with some recent low elevation snow and then a blast of hot weather in the early season. A number of years ago it ran for weeks, but the snowpack in its drainage was obscenely high. If it runs, go get it! I had a short video somewhere that gives you the character. I'll see if I can find it later.

Bear creek is awesome when it has water. Unfortunately it hasn't had a real season since 2007 when it ran over 200 cfs for weeks.

A manky minimum is around 150 cfs. Above 200 the mank starts to mellow and the run gets better. Above 300 cfs, the rocks start to dissappear, and the run is high speed micro creeking.

It takes massive upslope storms to get the snowpack on mt evans big enough for bear creek to run. Monsoon rains in the summer can get it going, but thats rare as well.

Hopefully bear creek will get a good season this decade.
