Very sad. Just goes to show you the most innocent looking water can hide serious hazards.

I am very sorry to hear of this death. When spread out over the area of a person's body, water can exert huge forces at a barely moving pace. This was an unforeseen hazard in an inconspicuous area. Terrible tragedy.

re-bar on river left?

Just did a swift water rescue intro on that section. Our guide said as we floated by that section that there was re-bar and other debris on the railroad track side of the river where they have parked the unused rail cars...Condolences...
