Drove up through the tunnels above BV to Number 4, rio left access. Sunny in BV, snowing by the railroad bridge, a classic "Blue Hole" day in BV. The rio is "open" and has water in it. The historic average is 110 cfs at Granite this time of year, we did the lower Numbers run at 120- last year. It got 140 ish? low and froze hard in the past month. Ten days ago it spiked over 300 cfs and blew the ice out. Now there is 235 to 260 in there and the rio is pretty open. Must be that winter water moving thing (C' Springs is thirsty).
There are some ice flows (slabs) pushed up on some rocks but the main lines are open. The ice shelves are almost entirely in the shallows. Very few spots with any current pushing under ice. Tuesday is "supposed" to be 43 degrees in BV with light air. I'm looking to continue my monthly paddling streak. Looks like a nice window to get January's Numbers ELF run in.
Logan?, F'Bob?, R'Nek?, Cadster?
Please PM me if interested.
These shots were taken at about 200 cfs.
