It is just starting to warm up so there has not been much melt yet. That along with the flows on the river kept super low until run off for the fish is why there is not much water in the ditch. This is the same as every spring and the weather has been cold so not much melt yet.
Also remember the 59,000 acre feet that was released in the winter of 2011 - 2012 (in order to keep the spring flows super low for the fish) has to be filled this year.. That along with most of the water that comes through the pipe never hits the Ark and is pumped straight to the front range.
Or the in flow in and out flow at Twin will not match up. In flow and out flow of Clear Creek will be close this year.
It was warm yesterday and we will see the river rise today.. Once we get a couple of days in a row of warm afternoon temps the river will come up significantly. This time of the year flows are weather dependent as no recreational flow water hits the Ark this year or any year until July 1st.
