Arizona Rivers

I am looking to kayak the best river in Arizona. Right now I am looking at the Gila or Colorado. Does anyone have any suggestions?

My suggestion would be to wait for an El Nino year. There wasn't much runoff in AZ this season, and it was back in March. Right now the only think running is the Colorado. Watch the gauges if you get any big rain storms this monsoon season. Depending on what difficulty level your looking for, I would watch the Salt, Verde, Tonto and Oak Creek.

GARNA’s mission is to foster stewardship of the resources of the greater Arkansas River region through education, volunteerism and experiences.

i recently duckied the verde river below camp verde. it doesnt take too much water. i think we were there at like 220cfs.
really pretty river. it's a forest service wild and scenic. it has a couple class 4's so i was told. nothing too big, just really tight at that level... unless you run verde falls, which looked like a serious thrashing for a ducky at 200cfs, but the portage was easy.
we did it as a multi-day but you might be able to run it in a day if you really haul ass.
spectacular river, but a little more water would always be nice

All I need are some tasty waves, a cool buzz, and I'm fine.

Geez, you are in LUCK!
The Colorado just happens to run through The Grand Canyon in Arizona! Not only is the whitewater spectacular but it is in one of the seven natural wonders of the world!
I've never boated before, but I have posted a lot on Mountain Buzz!
