apple valley one more thing....

Hopefully arn or badkins are checking flows befor today. N. st. vrain at park at 150cfs; we'll try apple valley easy run (suggested 130 min). Probably hier than 150 by the time we get out there. Read Arn's? description and there was a little comment about wood that could be easily avoided.

Wanted to avoid another Boulder Creek experience like we did at hi water past foothills pkway (open boats) but lots of floatsem and jetsem and tons of wood. Anything to be concerned about as this is probably earliest float down there this season?

If not...up to Poudre but wanted to try something different.

thanks in advance

Dana, we canoed that section several times last year putting in at Shelly's cottages. The first 1.5 mile or so below Shelly's is IIIish. There was one section that I can remember gathered wood, but it was easily avoidable. Other then that, we never had a wood problem, but that is not to say there may not be wood in there this year. Not sure were you are putting in at, but the lower valley above the park (a 1.5 miles or so below Shelly's is class II, easier then the whitewater park, so if there is wood it should be easily avoidable.

If I remember right, you need about 275-300cfs minimum to paddle down from above the park in a canoe. I think above the park at 130 would be a bottem dragger? The park at 130 is a go.

You can scout the whole thing from the road.

Flotsom- Natural debris and wreckage floating on the surface of the water.

Jetsom- Items thrown overboard now floating on the surface of the water.

So probably just flotsom in there.
Good luck.

Later,
tater
