Anyone paddle LL Hoss?

My only boat at moment is EZG 50. Need a higher volume stable boat for big water Numbers, Black Rock, Bailey. Don't envision doing any real creeking.

Have tried Burn, Mamba, Diesel. All have pros/cons but all would work fine. Would like to try LL Hoss before pulling trigger.

Does anyone have comments on Hoss relative to the other boats. Would really like something w/ good hull speed as well as stability, sharp eddy turns and ease of rolling.

Thanks for any comments.

I demoed a Hoss once and hated it. Thought it was very slow because of that "spin disc" on the bottom of the hull. Very unstable and tippy boat in my opinion. Of course, there are many out there that will disagree. I haven't tried the Burn but have heard all good things about that boat.

Like it or not, all of us are the result of a sexual act.

LL Hoss-sweat boat

The Hoss is the "can-do" boat for CO. It got me thru Gore Canyon, and I use it on the Front Range creeks. Solid and quite maneuverable in tight creeks. It's much faster than the Jefe but lacks a bit of Jefe's punch thru holes. All around very pleased with it.

The Hoss is a good river runner for sure and can make the transition to light creeking without a problem. I had the chance to paddle this boat on a trip to Chile and used it in both creeking and river runnin with the benefit of the LL outfitting, which is among the best in the industry. The spin disk is a bit new school for this kind of boat but it actually helps it a good bit for surfing. I dont really see any reason that it woulod help with river running but it does not hurt the boats performance in my opinion. I was definately stoked on this boat as a multi-purpose kayak. If you find a big enough hole you can loop the piss out of it as well...

I am 5'10 180 31 inch inseam. I am light for the Hoss but, I switch off between hoss and Lil Joe when teaching and running easy 5. I prefer to teach in the Hoss because it is a little faster and provides a better platform for carrying students. i found it turned better and was more stable for creeking than my huck. I have heard the complaints about this series of boats being tippy but haven't noticed it personally, I think it might have to do with seat placement.
