Cayo, There is good road access to the top of Chickenraper on both sides of the river. Just follow the road of choice northward from the bridge in Gateway. Downstream of Chickenraper, access may be restricted to river left only; there's a ranch on river right. Don't know if they're receptive.

PS, got a good look at Chickenraper during the peak last year. Would have been a mandatory portage for me.
