Anyone have any beta on Little Colorado?

-I was wondering if anyone out there has run the little CO from Cameron, or the overlook, to the confluence?
-There are some pictures from chunderboy with Steve Ward from the gallery. Steve give me a shout, John Wade @ 970-946-3746
-What sections did you run?
-Who's up for a salt trip @ 35,000 this year? Let's get it!

Jared (who was with Steve) said it wasn't worth it. No filterable water so you have to carry it with you, 50 miles with only one class IV section, for about 3 miles. The rest is flat and scenic. The hike out is a brutal 8+ hour trek out of the canyon. If you were to meet a Grand Trip and go down it might be worth it.

The rangers said it was cool to paddle the stretch from LC to the takeout trail, about 9 miles downstream on the colorado.

Bottom line, probably not worth it. Our group bailed on the trip after we heard Jared's report...and somehow ended up at Christopher Creek in AZ.

No run is worth the hike out of there and the suffering involved. I'll leave it at that. The pics posted show the cool Mexico style travertine layer it drops through for about a mile.
Cool class 4 waterfalls. I got stuck in a sticky cauldron type pourover (looked benign) and swam, much to Jarod's sh*t eating grin.
I would ony do it again if I couldn't make the front end of a gc trip. and i would bring my playboat with a lot of water. All the tributaries pass thru a layer of sulfurous rock, no pumping.
John, i'll give you a shout.
