4th of July Road conditions?

Thanks for the updates Dave and Marty. Did Baird say whether fourth of july road is drivable to the hellum's put-in? Sounds like he hiked up from the hessie trailhead.

We cut that tree out last night (the one 200 yards from the takeout). Pulled a few other minor logs. Hiked the whole thing, looks clean to me. If you hike be prepared for an adventure of postholing through the snow. I wore my creeking booties and my feet went numb. We decided it was too late to run it by the time we made it to the top. I didn't bring any food and I was thinking of killing Cliff and eating him.

I made it up the road to Hellums falls in my Honda Civic but there is a new culvert across one part that is turning into a mudhole. I'd say it is borderline SUV territory for now. The road to the townsite at the takeout is a river in the middle of a swamp but you can park on the main road and walk it.

I've never seen that run before... it deserves its class V rating. Non-stop gradient with icicles in the overhanging tree branches. I was happy to walk back to the car to arrive at Burger King in Boulder about 9:30 pm.
