Any reccomendations for short III-IV run near Denver?

I just moved to Denver from PA and am looking to get my head wet with some CO white-water. I'm a class IV boater but want to start off easy with this cold whitewater and work my way up. Any ideas for a short III-IV run near Denver? If anyone is interested in paddling on Saturday, please call or e-mail me. Thanks, Alex. 610.416.6579

Second foxton, waterton. Clear creek is closer. Tunnel one down to the playpark in golden is a good warm up. If your feeling it, go up to the put in for lower clear creek. Lots of fun wave trains and class III. Two fun class IV rapids that you can walk if your not feeling it right away. Clear creek is the closest good metro boating for most denver folks. Loads o' class III/IV and usually lots of boaters.

Why is everyone so in love with lower clear creek?!? If you want fun, quality class III/IV, that is close and afterworkable, then head up to Boulder Creek. You can drive up the canyon to a pull out, right where Four mile road comes in. From there down to the play park is good class IV- and with one solid IV. You then have play park / boulder girl watching to enjoy. To me it definitly beats the hussle bussle plus attitude found on CC.

Just my 2 cents

I HATE: wigston and de la boot (clear creek sucks too). the only time they chime in is when people are talking about paddling class II.

South Boulder Creek from the dam to Eldo is a good III/ IV run. Not the shortest but a fun wilderness run (easy walk around the V's).

Shit - upper Clear Creek from Dumont down to Idaho Springs. Boogie water with some good rapids mixed in.
Like it or not, all of us are the result of a sexual act.

girl watching

de la - i must contend that golden also has its share of girl watching...and golden features seem better than boulder creek.

geezer, the run you're talking about is lawson-dumont, upper is from kermits to just past 119, 6 junction.

but yeah, lawson is the most enjoyable run (and most consistent) that's close in my opinion.

come on steve, lets not get into a boulder girls vs. golden girls match....it's not even close. hmmm, young, rich, california, daddy's girls that like to get drunk or white trash wifes of the coors plant workers?

Maybe people prefer Clear Creek over Boulder Creek because it actually has water in it.

Definitely way better ladies and chances for boob shots in Boulder though.
