Any of you kiddies run the Poudre this past wknd?

Hey there folks!
Long time, no post.... I know.

So a slight change in a few travel plans meant our originally scheduled trip to Idaho this past week ended up jettisoned for boating in CO instead!! Damn, too bad the Poudre was at 4 ft mosta the weekend.... that was *such* a bummer! At any rate, awesome times, awesome water, awesome people-- I'll spare y'all the full trip report, but needless to say, my first experience in a hard-sided boat on western WW left me pretty impressed with what y'all's fine state has to offer.

If any of you guys were running the Poudre (excepting the Narrows) in the afternoon either Sat or Sun, I mighta bumped into you out there.... I woulda been the chick with the strawberry-blonde braids, a serious case of permagrin, paddling a two-tone Salto.

And FLOW, *tsk tsk* on that cell phone, buddy!

The Poudre was fun on Sunday. Almost 4' on the rock is a fun level. The river changes character at that level, and the lines are different than at 2.5' to 3', and it is great fun. Lower Mish on down thru Bridges was a fun time on Sunday afternoon. Glad you had a good time.

If you're still in town, I might be up there tonight, and will definitely be up there Thursday night. Let me know if you want to hit it up again.

Chris

This isn't Denver Chris (blue wavesport) who paddled with us Sun afternoon, is it??

Yeah, it was a little over 4 on the rock Sun a.m., about 3.5 when we scouted Pineview Sun afternoon.... it'd been right at 4 feet when we made Pineview on Saturday, too. Camped across the river somewhere on the Upper Misch (sp?) section Sat night, and underestimated the current when I went for the eddy the next morning, so at least ended up getting a brief taste of the 4+ ft level (even if it was early morning and a bit unexpected!) when I had to run on down thru the next rapid .

Good times, though!!
We don't normally get nice fluffy water like that around here!

I know, I know.... I'm SO disappointed I missed you guys! I talked to FLOW today-- told him I even had you guys' address *in my muthafrickin' wallet* (yes, I double-checked even!!) but felt it would've been pretty poor form to just show up on your porch unannounced.

Looks like I'm gonna have some serious time on my hands the next few weeks, if not the better part of the summer, so I'm hoping to get back out again soon. And foe' the record, I had my own perfectly nice Jewish boy to paddle with this weekend... but i'm sure I woulda enjoyed hanging witchu and yours, too, Gapers. The boys coulda paddled the really crazy stuff in the yaks, and I would've been honored to lend you fellas a hand in the raft.....

Man.... I am just KICKING MYSELF that I missed y'all. Flow's not the only one sitting around sulking today!

Dang, Gapers....... <sigh>

I was part of the group that caught you two on the way down Saturday and then was the one that gave a ride on Sunday for the shuttle. It was nice paddling with you for the brief time. There are several of us paddling this weekend on the Arkansas if still here and interested but might possibly end up on the Rustics too.
