All camping full near Dotsero on Labor Day?

Is it safe to assume all camping, like in Lyons Gulch or Deep Creek,
will be full by Sat. AM on Labor Day weekend? Anyone want
to volunteer secret alternatives (but then it wouldn't be secret, would it?)?

There is a camp area along the Eagle, downstream from wolcott...not sure if it's reservable or not. There is also camping at Sylvan Lake, which you can reserve, just 20 min south of the town of Eagle...if the campground is full, you can pull off to camp in spots up the the Lime Creek Canyon area.

You might also have some luck looking for camping up the Deep Creek road. The turnoff is just downstream of Lyon's, and the road winds all the way up to Coffee Pot and Heart Lake, all of which have great (and gorgeous!) camping options too, and may be a little closer than Sylvan lake, although it is a slow drive up the switchbacks. There are primitive sites all over if you keep your eye out for them, but also the official campground at Coffee Pot and White Owl Lake. But in all reality, that whole area is drenched in weekend warriors over labor day, so good luck

mile west of gypsum

there is also a BLM type camp ground just west of gypsum, use the gypsum exit, take the first right out of the roundabout (west) and down the frontage road about a mile. around 10 sites with a pit bathroom. checked it out about a month ago on a saturday morning, there were still a couple spots available but we decided to keep driving to deep creek instead. also was by last w/e and saw lots of spots open at this location, it may not be as popular given the proximity to the highway.

Thanks for the feedback! Ya, seems like
there are few spots to check out, but all seem
pretty small so I'm a bit pessemistic for a 3-day weekend.
Do you think places like Lyons Gulch or Pinball fill up more quickly
that places near Walcott or Gypsum?
