Strainer in Gilman has moved
The strainer (big grey log 1.5 to 2 feet in diameter,20 feet long, no branches) has moved some distance downstream. It is currently beached on a shallow rock bar, midstream about a 1/4 mile above the mine site. It is in a wider shallow class II section of the river above the last "boogie water" rapid above the old mining town. It is probably gonna move tonight or in the next few days when the water rises. We paddled around it easily on the right today.
If you get to the mine site and haven't seen it, I highly recommend scouting all the bigger drops in the second half of the run (Fall Creek, Upper and Lower Rock Creek, Slide Rapid and Slurry Pipe) to make sure it hasn't lodged somewhere nasty.
Other than that log, there was an easily avoided log in the final rapid of Homestake Creek. It 's on the right side of the rapid below Piece of Shit.
Run left. Homestake and Gilman were all good to go today.
