I didn't cut the foot foam. I just placed the thin wedges behind the softer foam and used the strap to keep them together. The softer foam (weird shape thing) sort of wraps around my toes a bit. I am using the foam cone from my Liquid Logic though, which helps keep my heels off the plastic. Horrible description but its the best I can do.

After my first couple trips in the beginning of the year I took out the plastic piece that was used for the back band to hold the straps, and took 2 of the buckles?, releases?, cams?, whatever you want to call them, from some old tie down straps, tied them together with parachute cord and use that. Back band never slipped again and never had any problems with the rest of the original outfitting.
